2021 Love-a-thon for Justice!

We are the first and only center in the U.S. dedicated to repair with survivors of domestic torture. We’ve been without a physical space for almost 2 years and we can’t wait to have a home again.

We need to raise $150,000 to make repairs to the building. You can help us get there!

We are grateful and eager to be moving into our new space in the former Woodlawn Mental Health Clinic. Video by Sensitive Visuals.

Our Center was born out of reparations for survivors of police torture. Survivors and their families fought for decades for access to the trauma-informed resources and politicized healing support that CTJC now offers.

The COVID pandemic forced us to shift to fully remote work in March of 2020. Since then, we have almost doubled our staff and outgrown our former home inside of the Englewood Neighborhood Health Clinic. Working at a distance for so long has added new layers of trauma, grief, and isolation to what we already hold.

We finally secured a new physical home for our growing community, but the space was left in an inaccessible state. We are eager to re-open and we need immediate support from our community to make the repairs required to open a new home that is safe, accessible, and welcoming. We know it will take all of us to reach our goal. Truly, every donation of any amount makes a difference.

We opened a shop!

Want to wear your love for the Center? Check out our online store with apparel and more! Every purchase made supports the creation of our new space, and we’ll be adding new items throughout the Love-a-thon.

Toolkit for Supporters!

Our Love-a-thon is an opportunity for us to grow a community of care around survivors and around the Center. Sharing about the Love-a-thon and why you care about the Center is an incredibly impactful way to invite new people into this work. We’ve created a toolkit with resources to offer resources that we hope will make that easier, and we’ll be updating it throughout the campaign!

Making it Home and Making it Whole

Through our Radical Resourcing framework, we acknowledge that making our work and our visions real takes all of us showing up in whatever ways we can. It will take more than funds to make our new home whole.

“It takes a village of concern to create light in very dark places.”

—Dr. Nate Gilham, CTJC practitioner
