Call to Action: Support the Naming of RonnieMan Park!

Ronald "RonnieMan" Johnson was a beloved father, son, and community member whose life was tragically cut short when he was shot in the back by Chicago Police on October 12, 2014. Since then, RonnieMan's mother Dorothy Holmes has fought for accountability and justice while continuously supporting the Washington Park community where her son lost his life. Through annual food drives, back-to-school giveaways, winter clothing drives, and holiday toy drives, Dorothy has committed herself to ensuring RonnieMan lives on in our care for each other.

We are excited to share that after many years of organizing, the Chicago Park District has advanced a proposal to name the currently unnamed playground at 53rd and King Drive — where we lost RonnieMan — Ronald "RonnieMan" Johnson Playground. It is our hope the playground can serve to honor RonnieMan's life and legacy, and to more broadly acknowledge lives lost to police and state violence.
